Cruz killed 17 victims and injured 17 without entering one classroom. Instead, he aimed at students and teachers trapped in the hallways or in the classroom and shot them through the door. Several times he went back to those who were already injured and shot them.

He left school unnoticed and was arrested about an hour later walking in a residential area.

Shooting has launched a national gun control movement inspired by student activists. The Florida State Capitol has adopted several gun controls, and then Republican Governor Rick Scott signed the law.
