A caracal trots across a muddy plain with lifeless flamingos in its jaws. The chilling moment is juxtaposed with the bird’s bright, bright pink plumage. Even dead, nature has its own beauty. Nature TTL Photographer of the Year The competition shows it all.

Nature TTL Photographer of the Year 2022
This scene reveals a wild, cold reality. A lifeless flamingo, feathers still bright pink, stained with blood, dangling from the jaws of a caracal as it trots through the mud.
“I heard rumors of servals hunting birds on the shores of Lake Ndutu (Lower Serengeti), so I rushed to see them,” explains Nature TTL Photographer of the Year Dennis Stogsdill. “As soon as I arrived, I quickly realized it was a caracal, not a serval, and was hunting flamingos that were feeding in the shallows. successfully hunted (in dramatic fashion) one of the hapless birds. In this image, a caracal can be seen walking around with a prize.”

If facial expressions can tell a story, the bird on the right definitely has something to say. In this case, the parakeet was feeding and talking to a fellow bird.
“Malabar parakeets are amazing creatures,” writes Young Winner Achintya Murthy from Classified ads . “They are also called blue-winged parakeets. The two are fighting over a stump that feeds on rice grains.”
nature fights back
The bright, vibrant yellow of the sunflower stands against the background of the wasteland. Lightning flashes in the distance, as if nature asserts its dominance and tenacity in the face of human ruin.
“A thunderstorm passes over sunflowers, which unexpectedly survived a landfill in the semi-arid Karoo region of South Africa,” says category winner Berthas Hannekom.
“Crowded.” Winner of the Excellence Award in the Animal Behavior category. Ben Smate
This photo is funny. Chaos, color and a touch of mischief fly with the mud drops perfectly suspended in the air.
Butterfly silhouettes provide an air of tranquility and mystery. An impressive production by Paavan Shah, who has been awarded the title of Highly Commended in the Youth category.
reminiscent of finding nemo, this fish (a cousin?) peeks between the tentacles of an anemone. The shade of green provides a sharp and intense contrast with the purple and pink shades of the fish.
top of australia
Against the background of the starry sky stands a lonely cottage that seems to be eroded by sand and snow.
“This photo was taken during a trip to Kosciuszko, Australia’s highest point,” wrote category winner Jocelyn Cornoux. “He’s also one of the best places to photograph the Milky Way, partly because of the dark skies.”
Possibility, adventure, and a touch of romance ooze from this golden autumn photo. It makes me want to go out and explore the vast world.
