Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addresses Canadians on Labor Day after a stabbing incident in an indigenous community in Saskatchewan left 10 dead and 18 injured.
Prime Minister Trudeau called the incident “shocking and heartbreaking” and urged residents of Saskatchewan to be vigilant and call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
Additionally, Trudeau announced that flags on all federal government buildings in Saskatchewan and the Peace Tower in Ottawa would be lowered to half-mast as a sign of respect.
“Tragedies like this have become all too common,” Trudeau said.

On Sunday morning, reports of violence began coming in from the James Smith Cree Nation, about a two-hour drive from Saskatoon. First responders found victims at 13 separate locations for the natives and his within the nearby village of Weldon.
According to police, some victims appeared to be targeted, while others were randomly attacked.

Residents of the city are advised to consider sheltering indoors.
Hundreds of RCMP staff are currently working to find and apprehend suspects.
“To the people of Saskatchewan and beyond, we are using all human, investigative and technical resources available to us to find and arrest those responsible for this tragedy and to ensure your safety. Rest assured,” Saskatchewan RCMP Commander Rhonda Blackmore said in a news release.
The men have not yet been taken into custody, but both have been charged with multiple murders, attempted murder and trespassing.
