A Toronto couple tied the knot at Cinnabon this month, and it was certainly one of the most fragrant weddings of the year.
Dressed in white, Kate Palumbo and Andy LaRocca exchanged vows at the Dufferin Mall on Sept. 6.
“Who doesn’t want a Cinnabon wedding cake?” Palumbo told the Daily Hive via email.
“We also wanted our wedding to be a reflection of our dynamics and not take things too seriously. Yes And-ed on my way to the Cinnabon Altar to get married at 6:09pm.
Palumbo and Larocca met on a Hinge date in 2020 and quickly discovered they had “a lot” of friends in common.
“Staying true to lesbian style, we moved in together by the end of the year,” Palumbo said.
The couple met up with five close friends at the food court, and just before Palumbo and LaRocca took their wedding photos, they bumped into an old friend who was taking engagement photos at the photo booth.
“Beyond Paris is the new romantic capital of the world! And no frills,” joked Palumbo.
The Dirty Duff, an Instagram account dedicated to the Toronto Mall, shared photos of the couple’s special day.The account is a parody, but the wedding was very real — officiated by the couple’s best friend Caleb Robertson Fluffy soufflé).
It was Robertson’s idea to have the wedding at Dufferin Mall. He’s always wanted to get married in a collection of enigmatic shops on the west end of Toronto.
Their wedding post generated a lot of love online, with friends, strangers, and other Dufferin Mall businesses congratulating the couple.
“It’s great,” said Glory Hole Donuts.
“Thus proving once again that the most magical weddings don’t need a lot of money to be memorable and romantic,” said user @strange_miss.
“This photo smells great,” said @jessebellon.
Palumbo thought the wedding was going to be pretty low-key, but she liked that the story resonated with people. A group of boys gave them a “so adorable” standing ovation.
“And all the congratulations, even from strangers, have been so encouraging,” she said.
