Apple Inc. has said it will raise the cost of its Apple Music and Apple TV Plus services in Canada.

The tech giant has confirmed that prices for both services have increased, ranging from $1 to $4 per month, depending on the size of the service and package.

Apple Music’s base price for a single listener account rises from $1 to $10.99 per month, and access to the Apple TV Plus video streaming platform jumps from $3 to $8.99 per month.

This is the first time Apple has raised prices for its streaming service in Canada.

Passing on higher costs

The company said Apple Music’s price hike is related to rising music licensing fees.

The decision comes as many of the major streaming platforms are looking for ways to make money amid inflation and rising film and TV production costs.

Similar price increases are rolling out in other markets where Apple is present, including the US.

Meanwhile, the price of the Apple One, a bundled subscription package that adds Apple Arcade and iCloud storage, news and fitness options, will increase by more than $3 in Canada.
