After a political columnist faced harsh criticism over a tweet about Jagmeet Singh’s yellow turban, the tweet was deleted, and Singh apparently returned a polite round of applause.
Columnist, Wednesday, March 8 toronto sun Brian Lilley tweeted a photo of federal NDP leader Singh.
“Jagmeet appeared to be wearing a no-name turban just to burn down Galen Weston in a committee today,” the tweet read.
“I know he changes colors for special occasions and occasions, but I didn’t expect Noname to be yellow today. Is it on purpose or a coincidence?”

The tweet has been viewed more than 2 million times and was shared after a House committee that included the grocery chain’s CEO, who was being questioned over soaring food prices.
It was later deleted, and two days later (forever in the internet age) Lily said, “I apologize to those I have offended.”
Deleted a previous tweet that was considered controversial and insensitive. It wasn’t my intention, but I apologize to anyone who was offended. As such, the tweet has been deleted.

Singh appeared to react to the controversy on Friday afternoon.
We had a lot of great conversations about why we wear turbans and what it means.
But some people try to make us feel inferior. Thinking about how it hurts children especially.
To them I say:
Be yourself.
Take pride in everything you bring to the table.

Singh shared a photo of himself in his youth to accompany the message.
Classy!
