“I’m alive and kicking”: Actor Sam Neill on cancer diagnosis and memoir

It was during the publicity tour of 2022 jurassic world dominion When New Zealand actor Sam Neill, 75, realized something was wrong.

In an interview with BBCSoon, doctors told him he had stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of cancer that starts in the lymph system.

He recalls thinking, “I’m an imposter, I’m dying.”

“I mention cancer because that’s kind of the context in which I write,” he said in a video posted to his Instagram account. I needed to do something while I was in treatment.I was used to going to work and suddenly I couldn’t go.

Neil told the BBC that he could sense a sense of urgency that his publisher had to finish the book in a hurry.

As a first-time author, he admits to feeling nervous, but seeing people laughing while reading his books is a good sign.

He added that the tone of his memoir was one of surprise.

“I never thought I would have a career as an actor, let alone a film actor,” he said.

Neal added that it was “a bit annoying” to see the news coverage focused on his diagnosis.

“As you can see, I’m fine, I’m fine, I’ve been in remission for eight months, and I feel really good. And I’m alive, I’m fine, I’m going to work.”

He added that he is about to start filming a miniseries titled apples don’t fall With co-star Annette Bening.

“I hope you enjoy it. I’m fine, so don’t worry too much about ‘everything,'” he said.
